Plum Oolong is based on a “black” or highly oxidized oolong called Qilan, which is from the Wuyi Mountains in China. Qilan has a rich, woody flavor, due to the oxidation and high mineral content of Wuyi soil. Qilan’s earthiness is balanced by tart ingredients such as schizandra berries, rosehips, and hibiscus, which are considered to provide health benefits such as liver and immune support, and reduce high blood pressure.
Standard Brewing: Pour 8oz of 195℉ water (a lively simmer) over 1 Tbsp of tea and brew 4 minutes.
Alternative Brewing: To bring out the fruity and floral flavors in the tea, try pouring just enough cold water over the leaves to cover and let sit 1 minute. Then fill the rest of the way with boiling water and steep 3-4 minutes.
